Self Generated Power

Planning ahead for a cleaner future

Sustainability and clean energy are top of mind at Lakeside, and we are always looking for new ways to innovate and protect the environment.

With the proven success of our current Cogeneration Energy Plant at 132 Elliott Street, we have made plans to expand it by adding a new addition to it.

Self-generated power that comes from these plants benefits the entire community and helps us create a future where we deplete less resources from the environment. With the current cogeneration unit, we are able to reduce our carbon footprint by 8,800 tons annually – that’s the equivalent to planting 366,000 trees a year. Moreover, we use the electricity produced to power our operations in Leamington including our greenhouses, pack houses and offices.

By depleting less resources from our community, we help preserve the environment we have today and pave the way for a better tomorrow.

Coming soon In 2025

We’re serious about sustainability. Every year we create goals to further improve ourselves, and this planet we call home.

How?

By expanding our current Cogeneration Power Plant, we will be able to produce more self generated power.

Why?

We aim to minimize our impact on the environment and leave it as we found it, or better. By creating more sources for self-generated power, we can rely less on community resources.

When?

The expansion will be completed sometime in 2025.

We are proud to be part of the Leamington community and we hope to continue to fuel growth and add to the economy here. As such, the voices in our community are very important to us, we want to hear what you think. Following the virtual Public Community Meeting, we encourage our neighbors to reach out to us through our website.
